Mark Farina is currently completing his Live In Tokyo CD Release tour across North America (with a few destinations left shown below). His recent stop in Vancouver at the Commodore was quite a success selling out far before midnight of the event. This is quite an accomplishment for Vancouver as the Commodore holds close to 1100 people and being so close after New Years and on a Friday night usually means not enough people get off their butts to go party.
Nevertheless, the promotion company Nordic Trax has been well known in Vancouver for bringing in the right dj’s a... Read More
STEP 9 WHAT YOU BRING AND HOW YOU PACK SHOULD BE SEEN AS AN EXTENSION OF YOUR IMAGEIt still amazes me how people can travel somewhere and not know how to pack, or better yet, not know what to bring. So thank god you have me…so to speak.
I guess I should break it down like this for you; you don’t want to be caught with your pants down. Whatever the reason that brings you to Miami, you are going to have ample opportunities to make a mark. There is going to be people there who are scouting new talent, artist development, publishi...

STEP 7 DON’T LEAVE MIAMI WITHOUT GOING TO LITTLE HAVANA Let’s talk a little about Miami, well not a little, a lot. There is so much to say about that great amazing city. As I mentioned before, you have to have a rental vehicle to get around this fab city. With its tropical backdrop you may want to start your sightseeing with South Beach. Which should bring you to the Art Deco District where there is a walking tour you can take called The Miami Design Preservation League www.mdpl.org all information on this site.

STEP 5: BEST WAY TO GO ABOUT DECIDING IF YOU SHOULD RENT A VEHICLEThere is no deciding, that was a trick; you have to rent a vehicle. The thing to remember on this week long work vacation is you are going to need a vehicle. Miami is a place of many amazing features. And you are going to want to visit them all.
So for argument sake, let’s say you do stay on the same strip as the Conference, you are only in one small area of town. You are going to want to venture out and trust me when I say you’d kick yourself if you didn’t rent...

STEP 3: CHOOSING THE RIGHT HOTEL...LOCATION LOCATIONI noticed right away that hotels have a large price point that doesn’t only account for location. Not only that but the architectural styling of Miami and its hotels are known for its “oh my god” factor. You can stay in a “hipper-than-thou” or “minimalist’s dream come true” hotel, or trot on down to an art gallery or museum, fork over some cash and stay there. I’m not saying there isn’t a room out there for your budget, just know what that budget...

In our deep exploration of electronic music events around the world, one scene that has a continued and strong support for house music is the gay circuit party scene. However, the Winter Pride Festival in Whistler BC breaks out of the mould of being strictly about partying and adds an assortment of extravaganza's including skiing/snowboard at the number one ski destination of the world - Whistler BC.
In fact, Whistler BC opens it's arms to celebrating Winter Pride by hosting events throughout the high class village...

So first things first I’d like to start off by saying that the etiquette of buying drinks for people in bars and restaurants has changed drastically because of date rape drugs. So as a disclaimer, please remember that you never have to take or offer a drink, and that ultimately the decision is yours to make. So please make it wisely.
With that said here is my view of the two paths to take when dealing with “Pick Me Up” drinks. Path number one is if you are in a restaurant or lounge you can send a drink or buy one with no real fear because the "Buyer" never touches...

Now I’ve been to many clubs, small and big and even super-clubs such as Miami in Space. But what are the elements that make a good nightclub? Is it the sound system? The lighting? Or perhaps it’s all about the promoter and the crowd that he targets.
But what were my best experiences? Most definitely it has been about the music. In other words, the DJ and his/her ability to spin tracks that have made me want to shake my body uncontrollably in ways only music can. Some that really stand out include John Digweed back in the 90’s, to Bad Boy Bill (almost every s... Read More
