Stephen Payne’s latest inspiration Deadmau5 gave him the deep rooted energy to establish this mixture of electro, tech and progressive tracks that was recorded on a rainy october afternoon. Elecktrosexual eases you in with luring beats which escalate into the sizzling Mark Knight remix of Automatic by Laura Kidd. And Stephen keeps taunting us with a track that is sexier than your hottest fantasies in the Deadmau5 remix of HBFS (Hotter, Better, Faster, Stronger) by Daft Punk. But you haven’t heard anything yet as the latter half of this set just keeps building and transcending with someother gems like Robot Needs Oil and possibly the best for last - Axwell’s remix of Dirty South’s Let it Go. Trance and progressive house were again big winners in DJ Mag’s controversial reader’s poll.

For a sixth year running, the top spot went to a trance jock - this time 30-year-old Dutchman Armin Van Buuren, who took the number one spot from last year’s winner Paul Van Dyk. The undeniably huge Tiesto (who has 307,887 friends on MySpace) nabbed second place, while progressive house stalwarts John Digweed and Sasha rounded out the top five.


“It’s a really big honour, I’m kind of stunned, y’know?” Van Buuren told DJ Mag. “It’s basically a dream come true!”



Curiously, plenty of votes came in for acts not really known for their DJing, including The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Trentemoller, BT and Booka Shade.
This year’s poll was steeped in controversy, with a number of DJs, including Christopher Lawrence and DJ Dan, being disqualified amid accusations of vote-rigging.

We discovered Caesar Sebastian by stumbling upon his incredible photos on Flickr, but little did we know he is also a DJ with a great ear for edgey electro house music! In Analoluge Cause-Effect Caesar begins with a retro synth flavour in So Electric, and transcends through with Norman Doray`s Jetlag - a timeless piece. But then the bass kicks in with Hey Frankie by Haitras and gets you in a groove with the tantalizng beats of She Wants Me. LIke true rockstar flavour Caesar ends the set with some dirty gritty tracks so you better be ready to party circuit style!

One of Sweden’s sons’ graced us with their presence. A long list of great DJ’s coming from that region. With such great hits this summer “Call On Me” Prydz was sure to be a show not to miss. Vancouver people were mystified Saturday night at the infamous Sonar (previously The Town Pump). Prydz came on about midnight and rocked it out until close. The fans seemed happy to see this young remix master do his thing. A varied group of youngsters hit the dance floor in an amazing awe of lights. Big props to Savio and his team for the great stage set up and lights. The atmosphere was sure to pump the music lovers with its den of luxury. Can’t stress how impressed we all were.
