Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival
WHISTLER GETS SET TO SPOTLIGHT BIGGEST TALENTS IN MUSIC, SPORTS AND ARTS, APRIL 11-20

Preparations underway to ready Whistler for 13th TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festiva

WHISTLER, BC, April 10, 2008 –

The TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival’s unique fusion sports, music and arts gets underway April 11 in Whistler and operations crews are busy getting the resort ready for ten days and nights of non-stop events and entertainment.

In the Village, where 11cm of snow fell earlier in the week to freshen up the 265cm base, 10 tonnes of scaffolding is being set up to build viewing platforms, the Pontiac Battle of the Bands stage, and the Outdoor Concert Series Main Stage, where headline acts De La Soul, Lil’Jaz, The John Butler Trio, Blackalicious, The Trews, Ill Scarlett, Daniel Wesley, Julian Marley and Michael Franti & Spearhead will perform free concerts daily from 2:30pm.

At the conference center the Telus DJ Experience is showcasing DJ’s Mark Farina, Donald Glaude and DJ Dan. Last year Tall Paul rocked a sold out show with over 1100 people and this year will be no exception to the rule promising a mega audio and visual production which will rival the best nightclubclubs in the world. For full information check out thefreshpage on Telus DJ Experience .

Top 10 Nightclubs in the World

Every clubber has “The Club.” Be it the place that is designated as the Saturday Spot, or that foreign nightclub that just can’t be forgotten, there is always a certain club that holds a cherished spot in almost every clubber’s heart. What follows is a list of ten of the most incredible nightclubs from around the world. I say “ten of the most incredible” because I’m sure that not everyone’s going to agree. Everybody looks for something different in “The Club.” It could be the crowd, the venue itself, the DJ, or a mash of everything, so I’m not going to tell you that this group is The best. But it’s pretty damn close - take a look… Read the rest of this entry »

Soul Skate 2008
The return of rollerskating is back? Last year Kenny Dixon Jr. brought back the soul at Soul Skate 2007 in Detroit Michigan before the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (which has been growing 9 years strong now!). The idea was to throw a big roller skating party at the Northland Roller Skating Center and to do something fun and crazy for a change. Here’s a clip from last year’s party. Daft Punk

If you’re into electronic music (that’s why you’re here, right?), you’ve probably heard of Daft Punk (Daft Punk recently won the Best Group award at the International Dance Music Awards - Read article here). If not, you’ve probably just heard their songs without knowing the men behind the music – I doubt that there are many of you who have never heard the irresistible hook of “One More Time.” Hopefully you’ve seen at least one of their music videos though (Daft Punk Music Videos), because Daft Punk definitely pushes the boundaries in their videos as much as they do in their music. Creativity is not a problem for these two guys.

So what’s so special about Daft Punk’s music videos? Read the rest of this entry »

international dance music awards

Just recently at the Winter Music Conference the International Dance Music Awards were given out to the most innovative artists in the industry. This year it was the 23rd year and what I feel was the biggest year for electronic music and the community has really grown to include a mainstream crowd. People of all different backgrounds, cultures and ages have been united by electronic music on a global perspective and with the likes of David Guetta, Fedde Le Grande, Axwell, Daft Punk and Justice. Never before have people from all over the world connected with electro house and the days of massive festivals are back again, but not only in the UK and North America but huge crowds in countries such as Brazil and Serbia flocking to party it up to these dj’s/producers who are now looked at as modern rock stars.

Let’s take a look at some of the winners at the International Dance Music Awards of 2008: Read the rest of this entry »
