Peter Kruder Visions Ltd
Progressive House Music
RELEASED: APRIL 28TH 2009
Peter Kruder (one half of Kruder & Dorfmeister) previously remixed DJ Hell’s huge ‘Listen To The Hiss’ on Gigolo in 2005. The melodious ‘Visions LTD’ (his first 12” in a long time) is Kruder’s first Gigolo maxi and will be released on April 28. It also features on DJ Hell’s ‘Eleven’ compilation, released in March; Hell’s yearly showcase of the sound of Gigolo. The title track ‘Visions LTD’ is a soundscape of dance floor dreams – soft yet progressive, a track that commands you to dance. ‘Shine’ kicks up the pace, balancing a heavy elasticized bottom end with some deep and dark synth action.

DBN Music – Impressed is an Understatement!
Recently, we came across DBN in Chris Wren’s Fall Freshcast and to say we were impressed would be a severe understatement! Asteroidz by DBN featuring Madita was one of those tracks that resonated with us in a way that few tracks have even come close to this year! It’s got one of those infectious rhythms that can be played over and over again and every time it sounds better and better! This track will rock any dancefloor and turn it up side down!
So we thought, why not get in touch with DBN and find a little more about them…and to our surprise they even gave our audience a fresh new mix including a remix of their Asteroidz track we hadn’t heard before!

Armin van Buuren Master of Armada Music
Representing: Leiden, the Netherlands
Style: Trance
Best Known For: Challenging Tiesto’s place in trance history
Armin van Buuren is fast becoming a name as universally synonymous with dance music as Tiësto’s became just a few years ago. Coming at a time recently after the explosion of the king of Dutch trance was a tough task, but he has managed somehow to step out from Tiësto’s shadow and make his presence shine without so much as even a hint of being called a copycat or “just another trance DJ from the Netherlands.” Read the rest of this entry »

Ferry Corsten – Trance Pioneer
Representing: Rotterdam, Netherlands
Style: Trance, Electro House, Techno
Best Known For:
Ferry Corsten came to world relatively early in the line of über-famous Dutch trance DJs, which is why the words “trance pioneer” get tossed around as soon as people start mentioning his name. A legend in his own right, Ferry hails from the hottest trance base in the world: the Netherlands (What’s in their water??). Read the rest of this entry »

Paul van Dyk – Political DJ with a Cause
Representing: Eisenhüttenstadt, Germany
Style: Trance, Techno, Breaks, House
Best Known For: Using his DJing fame for good causes
One of the two big “Pauls” in dance music today (the other being Paul Oakenfold of course), Paul van Dyk is definitely one of the more interesting DJs out there. What’s important to note is that this includes not only his musical style, but also his unique persona and his awareness of issues around the globe. Born Matthias Paul in East Berlin, van Dyk was pretty much stuck behind the infamous Berlin Wall as a child, and the only trace of electronic music he could get in touch with was through the radio and smuggled mixtapes (which was illegal at the time). His early success in his home country led up to mixing at Tresor, then Turbine (where “Paul vs. Paul” parties with DJ Kid Paul was pretty big), then E-Werk when the Dubmission parties got too big. Tiesto – Trance DJ of the 21st Century
Representing: Breda, the Netherlands
Style: Trance
Best Known For: Being a truly universal name, whether you’re a hardcore dance music fanatic or the average clubhead
Arguably the most controversial, but still the most famous electronic music DJ in the world bar none, is Tijs Verwest, or as you know him, Tiësto. Earlier aliases include “Da Joker” and “DJ Limited,” during the times that he experimented with acid house and various other genres. Tiësto hasn’t been around for quite as long as some other workhorse DJs like Sasha and Digweed, but he has still made his rounds. His career really started to pick up steam in the nineties; he created compilations, which was something new in the dance music scene, and in the late nineties, collaborated with fellow Dutch Trance DJ Ferry Corsten. They were known as Gouryella (which means “heaven”) and were responsible for such club classics as “Gouryella” and “Walhalla.” Read the rest of this entry »

Sander van Doorn – Supernaturalistic DJ
Representing: Eindhoven, the Netherlands
Style: A mix of techno, house, progressive, and (most famous for) trance
Best Known For: Continuing and at the same time redefining Dutch trance excellence
He’s Dutch DJ who’s spinning trance like it’s nobody else’s business. Nothing new, right? Not exactly. Sander Ketelaars, or Sander van Doorn, as you probably know him, at first glance is just another DJ along the lines of already established superstars from the Netherlands like Ferry Corsten, Menno de Jong, Marco V, and you know it, Armin and Tiësto. The only difference is that when people hear “Sander van Doorn,” they do not think of what he has just been described as. They think of Sander van Doorn, fresh-faced, inspired, trance genius extraordinaire, who’s wasting no time in creating his distinct position in trance history, amid declarations from fans and critics alike that this is Tiësto’s heir for electronic music superstardom. John Digweed
Representing: Hastings, England
Style: Progressive House
Best Known For: Staying true to his style and being rewarded extravagantly for it.
Having DJed since childhood, John “Digweed” is a true veteran of the dance music scene. What makes him so unique though, is his consistency and integrity when it comes to his music. These are words that you definitely will hear thrown around often when people talk about Digweed. Two decades of DJing at a stunning level tends to do that for you. Read the rest of this entry »
