M.A.N.D.Y.

M.A.N.D.Y. Moves Your Body Good
Berlin-based creative duo M.A.N.D.Y. (Patrick Bodem and Philipp Jung) began their lifelong obsession with electronica in the late 80’s thanks to mix tapes and the sounds of early acid house.  Egged on by nights out in Frankfurt and an insatiable appetite for parties, they eventually teamed up with Booka Shade (Walter Merziger, Arno Kammermeier and Peter Hayo) and DJ T (Thomas Koch) to cofound Get Physical Records in 2002.  Read the rest of this entry »

Cameron Van Peebles is a classically trained musician and jazz saxophonist who began studying music at the age of eight.  Influenced by Terry Mullan, Danny Tenaglia and Ed Tramazzo, Cameron began DJing in 1996.  Twelve years later, his style has progressed from Chicago House to Tribal Tech to a unique blend of progressive and tech house that showcases thick, funky bass lines with dynamic, shredding mids and highs.  This refocusing has landed him some of the most highly coveted residencies at Avalon Hollywood and EM Sundays, two of the biggest and most respected Saturday night and Sunday day parties in Los Angeles.

Booka Shade

The hard work is finally paying off for Booka Shade. Who are they? Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger. What do they do? Make amazing live electronic music and rule DJ charts around the world. And do flippin’ remixes – when they’re not mixing music for labelmates on Get Physical Records. But more on that later. Read the rest of this entry »

international dance music awards

Just recently at the Winter Music Conference the International Dance Music Awards were given out to the most innovative artists in the industry. This year it was the 23rd year and what I feel was the biggest year for electronic music and the community has really grown to include a mainstream crowd. People of all different backgrounds, cultures and ages have been united by electronic music on a global perspective and with the likes of David Guetta, Fedde Le Grande, Axwell, Daft Punk and Justice. Never before have people from all over the world connected with electro house and the days of massive festivals are back again, but not only in the UK and North America but huge crowds in countries such as Brazil and Serbia flocking to party it up to these dj’s/producers who are now looked at as modern rock stars.

Let’s take a look at some of the winners at the International Dance Music Awards of 2008: Read the rest of this entry »
