Top DJs Aly and Fila

Aly & Fila
Representing: Cairo, Egypt
Style: Trance / Progressive
Best Known For: Being Egypt’s best kept secret (but not for long)

Aly & Fila is the next big thing out of Egypt. Aly Amr Fathalah and Fadi Wassef Naguib have been friends since childhood, and they’re helping to build the dance scene down in northern Africa, which right now is pretty much nonexistent. This will soon change though, as they have been the first to release material abroad to an overwhelmingly positive response. With influences of Steve Helstrip (from the Thrillseekers), Chicane, and Paul van Dyk in their music, Aly & Fila released their debut track, “Eye of Horus,” to rave reviews from both critics and clubbers. It received generous airplay from the biggest names in its genre (Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Paul van Dyk), and became the darling of popular compilations soon after.

Their internet radio show, Future Sound of Egypt, airs on Digitally Imported every Monday, so don’t fret if you don’t live in the land of the pyramids. Aly & Fila has really been gathering steam in the last few years; they collaborated on the creation of a record label, “Offshore” with Andy Prinz, after their contract with German label “Euphonic Records” ended, and have released some impressive material so far.

This melodious duo has played at the Pacha in their home country, and their next dream gig would be to hit up the famous Amnesia in Ibiza. This would almost be a guarantee in Aly & Fila’s near future, as they have already been a guest at Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance Parties, being the most requested at the 350th Episode Event, and having played probably more festivals than you’ve even heard of. Having already invaded most of Europe and starting their assault on Asia, you can be sure that Aly & Fila’s #111 standing on DJMag’s polls last year is history.
