Deadmau5: Dancefloor Dominator
Toronto native Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5 (pronounced “dead mouse”) has been busy enchanting clubbers and DJs with his compelling sound and unique style. Since 2006, his pristine productions have consistently ruled the Beatport charts and his tracks and remixes have been widely acclaimed and embraced by Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Francois K and Kaskade, to name a few. Performing onstage with his signature Mau5head, Joel has rocked huge stages at Ultra Music Festival, Coachella, Irving Plaza, Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Ibiza, and Creamfields.

Rising from virtual obscurity to international superstardom seems to be only the beginning for this charismatic young artist. In April, he won the Juno Award for 2008 Dance Recording of the Year for “All U Ever Want” with Billy Newton-Davis. The following month, Deadmau5 became the most awarded DJ/Producer/Remixer of the Beatport Music Awards, earning nods for Best Single “Not Exactly”, Best Electro House Artist, Best Progressive House Artist, and was named Most Influential Person of 2008.

Fresh off his performance at this month’s Virgin Mobile Festival, Deadmau5 has announced a 50+ city World Tour (sponsored by Puma and Beatport) beginning on Monday, September 1st to showcase material off his debut studio album, Random Album Title. The album is set for digital release through ULTRA Records on Tuesday, September 2nd and will hit record store shelves on Thursday, September 4th.

I too was hoping for a hopin show here in Vancouver – too bad it wasnt. I dont know if he was not on his “A” game – but talk about an uninteresting show…. the go-go dancers at Celebrities weren’t even into it…. some of the bass lines were amazing – but the crowd was NOT engaged…. what a disappointment!
