1. What is the brand of turn tables/mixers you use?
I use Pioneer CDJ’s and Mixer in the studio, but when I’m on the road I usually request either Pioneer or Allen and Heath.
2. What is the brand of head phones you use?
For Djing I like to use the Sony MDR V700 as they are comfortable and sound great, but for studio mixdowns I prefer Sennheisser HD280 pro as they have a flat repsonse.
3. What is your Favourite software?
I’d say its a tie between Native Instruments Absynth and Reaktor but then again I couldn’t get by without Logic! Don’t try and make me pick a favorite
4. What is your Favourite web site?
I like to stay current with most of the major music portals and message boards when I have time. I was reading the articles on your site that help first timers prepare for WMC and thought they were well written and useful too. I’m also quite addicted to the Ricky Gervais’s Podcasts which are great for a bit of irreverent humor while traveling.
5. Who inspired you musically as you grew up?
The first record I ever bought was “One Step Beyond” by Madness at the age of 10 so SKA was a major influence for me. My brother was really into Punk so I got into that too and later on I got into some of the synth bands from the 80 particularly Human League.
6. What do you hope to achieve with the music you play?
I think any artist/musician just wants to share their unique vision and have it be enjoyed by as many people as possible. While I play a lot of other artists music, I try and choose tracks that stay true to my sound and I hope that comes through in my mixes.
7. Who in this industry to you admire the most and why?
Again I’m choosing more than one, as the DJ / Promoter relationship is symbiotic and should never be messed with ! On the DJ side its John Digweed. I’ve been fortunate over the years to become good friends with John, he is a true professional and the hardest working DJ I know, his musical ability speaks for itself.
Damian Murphy from Liquified is also a legendary promoter that I’ve worked with for years. He is someone who always creates amazing events , puts his musical integrity first and doesn’t cut corners for profit.
8. What is your current favourite track?
Alex Dolby - Ushuala
9. Which city have you enjoyed playing at the most thus far?
Buenos Aires
10. Which city have you not played at yet that you are really looking forward to spinning at?
Santa Catarina (Brazil) at Warung Beach Club
11. What do you find you are learning from the most by touring with Sasha and Digweed?
Its always amazing touring with Artists you respect and admire like Sasha and John. Its a great opportunity to see how they work at their level and I’m sure I’ll be picking up a lot of tips.<
12. What do you feel you bring to the table this is unique as an artist?
As a headliner I like to think my music has a strong rhythmic presence, with a lot of killer bass lines while still remaining soulful. For the warm up / opening sets I try and create the right mood to get people engaged and excited before the headliner. I collect a lot of tech and deep house which I usually only unleash when playing with Sasha and John. I think that keeps the sets unique.
