Anders Trentemøller is one of the world’s most sought-after producers and remixers thanks to his signature classically infused sounds, multi-layered mindscapes, and contrasting textures. Hailed by DJ Times as being “not only a dance floor genius, but a musical mastermind in the broader sense” and consistently wowing international critics with his unique sound, it seems the only way for Trentemøller to go - is up!
In 1997, he debuted on the electronic scene as one-half of the first Danish live-house project, Trigbag, with DJ T.O.M. While their single “Showtime” garnered heavy rotation from international DJs like Alex Gopher, Laurent Garnier and Etienne de Crecy, Trigbag eventually split in 2000.
“I was a big fan of Daft Punk and [American techno pioneers] Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May. I found out I can try to sound like them, but it’s not me. I spent a lot of time thinking about defining my own sound and being honest with myself.” -Trentemøller
After a two-year hiatus, Trentemøller sprung back into action during the summer of 2002, serving up some delicious deep and funky tech-house, electronic dub and electro. In 2003, Naked Music released The Trentemøller EP, which led to Trentemøller receiving the award for “Up Front Release of the Year” at the Danish DJ Awards for “Le Champagne” in February 2004.
One year later, Steve Bug released the renowned Trentemøller EP “Physical Fraction” on his label Audiomatique, placing Trentemøller on the map of internationally successful producers. Many reader polls awarded him as the Best Newcomer of the year 2005 thanks to this and follow-up releases on Steve Bug’s main label Poker Flat. Anders’ debut album The Last Resort was released on Poker Flat in October 2006 and was voted “Record of the Year” by numerous magazines including: Groove Mag (Germany), Trax (France), Trax (Spain), Freeze (Greece), and Big Shot (USA). Notable tracks include: “Take Me Into Your Skin”, “Always Something Better”, “Moan” and “Miss You”. The Trentemøller Chronicles, his sophomore double album, was released the following year.

If you’ve been in clubland, chances are you’ve shaken your groove thang to a Trentemøller remix. Under the name “Run Jeremy”, he collaborated with DJ Buda to issue a white label remix of Aphex Twin’s ”Windowlicker”. Other highlights have been his remixes for Martinez “Shadowboxing”, Röyksopp “What Else Is There?”, The Knife ”We Share Our Mother’s Health”, Pet Shop Boys “Sodom”, Yoshimoto “Du What You Du”, Matthias Schaffhäuser “Coincidance” , Moby “Go”, Modeselektor “White Flash” and many more.
Winning Best Chillout Artist and Best Electronica Artist at the Beatport Music Awards, Trentemøller has continued to keep busy in 2008. The Trentemøller Live in Concert EP was digitally released this summer to rave reviews, including Pitchfork’s nod that “it was a truly revelatory set.” He also ventured into the fashion arena and composed the soundtrack for the Danish movie Det Som Ingen Ved (That Which No One Knows).
One of my personal favorites is Trentemøller ‘s song “Moan” featuring Ane Trolle. The song was a huge hit in 2007 and continues to happily haunt fans across the globe. Enjoy the video below:
