Carl Cox Nocturnal Festival

First off, it’s time to give TheFreshpage a more personalized touch…and this brings me into the mix. From now on I will be one of the main contributors to the blog and will give my true opinion on anything we post on the site. Like it or hate it my goal will be to get more discussions flowing on this content-rich site.

So who is this Semohn Kaufman anyway? Well if I told you too much I’d have to kill you, but let’s just say I’ve been with TheFreshpage since it’s inception back in 1999. That’s right, 1999! It has molded and grown more than I ever had imagined, and it’s been a lot of fun along the way. I’ve experienced the rave scene and its incredible transformation into a more mature dj club scene…here in Vancouver Canada anyway! Although there have been times when I’ve felt great sorrow for not being able to experience those incredibly adventurous nights in a warehouse along with 3000 strangers who had become my friends for the night, there are still many good new memories being created. I’d love to hear back from the readers of this post. What’s your experience with electronic music? How have you seen it change? Do you like where it is now, or would you like it to change again?

Every once in a while the scene impresses me when a completely unique act takes it up a notch. One clear example was Trentemoller, their visual displays and music quality just blew away the whole room.

Unfortunately the promoters in Vancouver don’t really step it up a notch, unless it’s Cargo Entertainment, but unfortunately they are not targetting the best crowd. Blueprint brings in great talent but they never spend a dime on extra lighting or sound, or any extra entertainment. Would be nice to see a promoter in Vancouver really step it up. Take a look at what’s happening in Germany. If you do it that well it’s bound to be even more profitable!

I agree the scene in Vancouver can suck pretty big. the promoters need to do something different and shake it up…get people talking!
