Over the past year, several festivals have made their way across the beautiful country of Australia, including Parklife, Stereosonic, Summadayze, Big Day Out, Good Vibrations Festival and Future Music. This November, UK mega-festival Global Gathering will add itself to that list.
Since its launch in 2001, Global Gathering has elevated itself to become the pinnacle of international dance music festivals - achieving iconic, legendary status worldwide. Each year, over 50,000 party goers assemble in the lush green fields at Long Marston Airfield (Warwickshire UK) for a two-day camping weekender at the end of July. The 2008 event was the biggest yet, with over 55,000 in attendance and incredible performances from some of the very best electronic and live music acts on the planet: Moby, Sasha, John Digweed, Armin Van Buuren, Laurent Garnier, Adam Beyer, Roger Sanchez, Dubfire, Sven Vath, Deadmau5, and many, many more…
As the name suggests, Global Gathering has become a truly international event, hitting the USA in 2006 and proceeding to launch in Ukraine, Turkey and Malaysia in 2007 and Poland, Belarus, Russia and Australia in 2008. Special care is taken by organizers to mold each Global Gathering so it is unique to its location, dedicated to achieving its trademark of excellence and commitment to delivering the best possible talent and ensuring the highest production values possible for each country.
The Australian debut of Global Gathering will be a joint venture between festival founder Angel Music Group (parent company of Godskitchen), alongside Future Entertainment and Ministry Of Sound Australia, touring to four cities: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Will it live up to the infamy attached to its UK counterpart? Details are scarce at this stage as far as exact dates, venues and line-ups are concerned. But stay tuned, the organizers promise to reveal all the juicy details over the coming weeks.
