On October 7, legendary NYC underground house label brings it home with the release of Behrouz’s history spanning collection PURE BEHROUZ NYC.

For those unable to catch Behrouz’s now legendary PURE BEHROUZ club nights across the world, this CD collection provides a faithful documentation of what the DJ brings to the table. Behrouz’s DJ sets are notorious for literally running the gamut of club music’s history; offering a seamless mix of both classics and tracks currently catching the global buzz. This is the definition of PURE BEHROUZ.

Rather than quickly throwing together two CDs worth of tracks, Behrouz expended an exorbitant amount of time and energy in compiling and mixing PURE BEHROUZ NYC. That’s because Behrouz wanted to create a mix that’s so special it will be enjoyed regardless of the listener’s environment; whether it be at home, in the car or at work. He’s also succeeded in creating a living time capsule that should never be too far away from any club music aficionado’s grasp. This is simply gorgeous stuff and it will undoubtedly be held up as one of 2008’s finest mix CD collections.

CD1 commences with a trio of house classics from The King Street Crew, Code 718 and Soul Boy opens up and flows into the epic strings of Studio Apartment Featuring Ron Carroll “I’m In Love (Rasmus Faber Epic Instrumental)” and airy piano licks of Kalim Shabazz “Peak Bomb.” Behrouz stuffs the middle of the disc with his own solid “Rich In Paradise (Instrumental mix)” and “Time Travel,” while Bingo Cache’s ragga-infused “Dancin’ (Behrouz Dubby Vocal Mix)” and Kiko Navarro “Siempre (Jimpster Remix)” takes us home.

CD2 greets us with Shara Nelson’s amazing vocal on Charles Webster’s remix of Nu Frequency’s “Go That Deep” and it perfectly fits into a bed with Luciano’s “Octagonal” and DJ Pippi vs Willie Graff “Hyper Space.” Dubfire once again shows why he’s been on a hot streak by putting his magic minimal touch on Greogor Tresher’s “A Thousand Nights Part 3” while Alex Neri & Marco Solforetti bring out the accordions for their “Birdy.” Behrouz then shows off his sick mixing talents by perfectly layering Friendly People’s “Music Improper (Martin Buttrich Remix) with Gui Boratto’s “Matryoshka” before closing out with a double dose of techno from Aril Brikha.

PURE BEHROUZ NYC is released October 7, 2008 on Nervous Records.

Behrouz Biography:
In today’s world which has become infiltrated with DJs, you find a
select few DJs like Behrouz who have managed to reach that top echelon,
either through hard work and determination, support from fans and
peers, and those that just have that God given gift to rock rooms (be
it small or big) around the world for 10 or more plus hours, taking
listeners on those unforgettable journeys of different genres of dance
music ranging from deep house all the way to techno.
Welcome to Behrouz’s world… From his early days growing up in San
Francisco, when San Francisco was considered at the time, the best city
in the US for house music and still till this day lives up to its
crowning title, you can find some of the best underground clubs. One DJ
in particular was chosen to be the main resident DJ for two of the best
known clubs at different times. Behrouz held a residency at DV8 for
eight years and another eight years at 1015, and the man paid his dues
by rocking both rooms each week to a packed house of clubbers ready to
dance from open to close and where the motto was always “it’s all about
music….”.

While being a resident at 1015, Behrouz was snatched by the Deep Dish
boys who recognized his talent, while they had a monthly residency with
Behrouz at 1015. They chose him to be on their labels Yoshitoshi and
Shinichi and added him to their booking agency roster. And from there
on, Behrouz didn’t let them or his fans down. It’s been an uphill road
which has lead him to become a top notch producer as well. His remix of
Safe From Harm topped every dance chart and hit #1 on the Billboard’s
Dance Chart. His single What We Do In Life being chosen to be included
in the classic Yoshisque CD compilation and his single Azab, being
played by all the major DJs and used in many compilations such as Carl
Cox’s Fact-Australia CD series, to his most recent smash hit being
crowned by Pete Tong as an Essential New Tune, Behrouz ft The FBI
Project, Rich in Paradise (tagged to become one of the biggest hits of
Summer 2008).

Raising the bar and forging ahead with a unique sound that many have
proclaimed as eclectic house with soul, Behrouz’s fame spread to the
White Island known as Ibiza and eventually the powers that be from
Circo Loco at DC10 asked him to be a guest DJ which lead to him to play
for the club for over three years, rocking the room at the peak era of
the Circo Loco legendary parties and being chosen to do the closing
parties for Circo Loco at DC10 for two years and eventually touring for
them all over Italy. At the same time Space Ibiza hand picked Behrouz
to do their renowned closing party and he has continued the tradition
for the past five years, playing sets with fellow peers and friends
such as Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, and Pete Tong, to name a few. Adding
to the Ibiza roster, Behrouz was also a resident at Pacha Ibiza for two
years in a row for the the Yoshitoshi parties and as of 2007, Behrouz
has become the resident DJ for the famous Made In Italy parties at
Amnesia and abroad. If that’s not enough, gaining notoriety throughout
the industry quickly led to Behrouz being nominated for Best
Breakthrough DJ at the 2004 Dancestar Awards held yearly in Miami
during the Winter Music Conference, nominated for Best Breakthrough DJ
at the 2004 DJ Awards in Ibiza and being nominated for Best Resident DJ
at the 2005 Club World Awards for his famous Pure Behrouz residency at
Ruby Skye in San Francisco.

Embarking on world tours, taking him from Dubai to Brazil, to legendary
rooms like Womb in Tokyo, Twilo and Vinyl in NY and festivals like
Dance Valley and the Cream festival in Spain, and playing long sets
eventually led to the creation of the Pure Behrouz concept that has
taken Behrouz’s signature sound to a new level. The whole meaning or
direction of the Pure Behrouz night starts with Behrouz playing from
open to close, taking his audience on that famous journey of different
genres of music, which only a select few can dare to embark upon. As
many can attest to, the Pure Behrouz nights have been compared to
listening to four separate DJs playing in a club, in one night. In this
day and age where most DJs can play no more than a standard two hour
set on their lap top, with Pure Behrouz, you get a pure journey of
music, not on a lap top, but through love, vinyls that are hand picked
by Behrouz himself around the world and upfront music that most likely
you may never get the chance to hear from another DJ!
