Sasha and Spooky (first-ever NYC live show) team up for IMAGINE FRIDAY at Webster Hall on Friday, October 12
Hear the Sublime Sounds of Sasha and Spooky on the world renowned Integral Sound System
On Friday, October 12, Webster Hall and clubZone.com brings together two of the most creative forces in modern electronic music - Sasha and Spooky (AKA Charlie May and Duncan Forbes) – for an evening of sublime sounds enriched by New York City’s finest sound system.
This event pays homage to New York City’s vibrant dance music past with an eye towards the future. Those who have tracked Sasha’s career know how much the city (namely his famed monthly residency with John Digweed at Twilo) had in launching his career into the stratosphere. Since then, Sasha has become one of the most coveted names in electronic music. From forward thinking and technologically superior DJ sets, to critically acclaimed original productions like “Xpander,” Sasha has always tapped into the pulse of the future.
On a historical level, Spooky are one of the most famous and important production outfits of the mid-1990’s electronic music scene. Known for their ability to weave in and out of genres, Spooky are most famous for their anthem “Little Bullet” (1993) and their top-selling debut LP “Gargantuan” (1993). A frequent collaborator with Sasha, they’ve also remixed some of the most memorable electronic music tracks of all time including Sven Vath’s “An Accident In Paradise” and William Orbit’s “Water From A Vine Leaf.” This past June Spooky released their gorgeous 2-disc CD “Open” and the Webster Hall date marks their first-ever live appearance in New York City.
It wouldn’t be proper to bring together two electronic music legends like Sasha and Spooky without providing a legendary venue and sound system in support. Originally opened in 1886 and restored to its original lustre in 1990, Webster Hall is the shining jewel of New York City nightlife. Selected by New York Magazine as New York’s best Live Music Venue, Webster Hall now features the finest sound system in NYC and probably the world. Designed by the leaders in sound engineering Steve Dash and George Stavro of Integral Sound (responsible for the landmark sound systems in the original Sound Factory and Twilo), Webster Hall is now the premiere venue for the worlds leading DJ’s and producers.
