The return of rollerskating is back? Last year Kenny Dixon Jr. brought back the soul at Soul Skate 2007 in Detroit Michigan before the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (which has been growing 9 years strong now!). The idea was to throw a big roller skating party at the Northland Roller Skating Center and to do something fun and crazy for a change. Here’s a clip from last year’s party.



It’s cool to see promoters take a different spin on electronic music events and recently in Madrid Spain, a Roller Disco party took place at Fabrik with a pretty interesting lineup with DJs Tiefschwarz, Marc Houle, Fuckpony aka Jay Haze, Jef K, Chris Carrier, tom clark. The music styles varied from Tek House, Hard House, Electro House, Acid House, Techno, Minimal , and Electro.

However at Soul Skate 2008 the focus will be on soulful house and disco house music. It’ll run from 11pm to 4am and will also include a Roller Skating competition with 2 or more people in each group shaking their things. Check out their web site for more info -Soul Skate
