The legendary Ultra Music Festival, founded in 1998 by partners Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes, has become America’s premier dance music event. Winner of the International Dance Music Awards “Best International Dance Event” in 2005, 2006, and 2008, it should come as no surprise that Ultra is the largest and fastest growing music festival of its kind this side of the Atlantic. Now in its eleventh year, this annual music massive is the official closing event for the 24th annual Winter Music Conference at Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami on Friday, March 27th and Saturday, March 28th 2009.
Last year over 55,000 dance music enthusiasts from all around the world were in attendance, making 2008 the largest Ultra Music Festival ever. Over the years some of the world’s best talent has performed at this event, including: Adam Freeland, Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi, Carl Cox, Christopher Lawrence, Crystal Method, Danny Tenaglia, David Guetta, Deep Dish, DJ Dan, Fatboy Slim, Hybrid, Infected Mushroom, James Zabiela, John Digweed, Josh Wink, Justice, Lee Burridge, Moby, MSTRKRFT, Paul Oakenfold, Paul van Dyk, Pete Tong, Rabbit in the Moon, Richie Hawtin, Sander Kleinenberg, Sasha, Steve Lawler, The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Tiësto, and Underworld.
The line-up for Friday night includes performances from: Bloc Party, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Pendulum, Roni Size Reprazent, Santogold, Steve Lawler, The Ting Tings, and Tiësto. Artists performing Saturday night include: Armin Van Buuren, Booka Shade, Crystal Castles, Cut Copy, Deadmau5, Paul Van Dyk, The Presets, and The Prodigy. Carl Cox also returns to perform both nights and will host the legendary Carl Cox and Friends arena with special guests like Erick Morillo, Moby, Pete Tong and Richie Hawtin.
