Yello Oh Yeah Remix Contest

Beatport is in the midst of a remix contest for the unforgettable electronic classic “Oh Yeah” by Yello. This track rose to infamy in the mid 80s in appearances in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Secret of My Success. One of the pillars of Vancouver’s house music scene, Andy Clockwork, teamed up with buddy Jon Reynolds as Rusty Nail to
write a submission to the contest. The resulting track has caused a stir on local dancefloors with it’s driving drums, groovy bassline and clever use of the original “Oh Yeah” samples. The breakdown and build are are key factors in this track’s success :

Andy Clockwork has done an addition remix for the househeads out there. Whereas the Rusty Nail entry approaches the remix from deep and techier perspective, Andy Clockwork’s mix is all about fat drums, a thick, rolling bassline and catchy synth hook. Again, the breakdown really adds to the track’s impact on the dancefloor:
