Well, we've had some enquiries made on the whole mp3 vs real audio debate again so it's on.  Even though real audio is a clear winner for smaller file sizes and better quality sound at 44kbps it is now debatable whether we can open up to a larger audience by streaming mp3's instead.  So what are your thoughts on this topic?

I agree that - REAL - has many benefits and has great sound quality
However a switch to MP3 would open the fresh page up to a much greater listener base - It would be nice to just download a mix and go -

It would be nice to have a MP3 Player loaded with a number of mixes downloaded from the fresh page.... and attempting to convert from real to MP3 is a pain and there's loose of sound quality

Yeah, I agree on the real audio sound benefits as well.  It seems like some people are really lazy and don't spend the effort to download the real player plugin so might as well go with mp3 which is the unfortunate standard now.  Hope that helps.

We actually did some test with mp3pro and found that it is isn't the best codec as it screws up some mp3 players and it really isn't that much better than mp3.  So far we have quite a bit of success with mp3 downloads in our download section though!
