Bio: DJ Sinestro is one of the Washington D.C./Baltimore area's most loved DJ/Producers. With over fourteen year's experience and countless parties, club nights, and special events under his belt, it is no wonder people are talking. His mixing style is like none other in the USA. Combining elements of Minimal Techno, House, Electro, acapellas and off the wall tracks, he is best known for live performances that span 8 to 9 different genres. Combining the ability to go through records at a fast pace (one of his mix CD's had an amazing 42 tracks in an hour!) and reading crowd response to enable him to play the right tracks at the right times - this eclectic style is a direct response drawn from influences like Richie Hawtin, DBX, Derrick Carter, John Acquaviva, Terry Mullan and Laurent Garnier, to rock and hip-hop artists like Devo, Bad Brains, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Public Enemy, and a huge helping of underground and pop culture.
Sinestro always pushes the boundaries and does what he love's best, which is making people dance. Sinestros career highlights include his 2nd place finish at the 1997 Buzz/Fever DJ Contest (beating out such talented DJ's as Wilhelm K, TY-T, J Smooth, and Prime Mover), multiple releases on his own Rehab Records/Random Recordings plus Frankie Bones’ many imprints, and the fact that he has played in just about every major city in the USA. Sinestro's huge DC fan base and kinetic skills have landed him as a headliner or support act for some of the biggest names in electronica including Carl Cox, Josh Wink, Richie Hawtin, Mixmaster Mike (Beastie Boys), Mixmaster Morris, John Acquaviva and far too many more to name.
With so many DJ's arriving on the scene these days, Sinestro realized the need to separate himself from the competition. One method was to produce and promote events. As a promoter, Sinestro has engineered countless successful events and club nights over a 12 year span, starting with the infamous TTrippco parties in Northern VA in 1996, Sharing a residency with Frankie Bones at The Edge Nightclub in the mid 90’s, and continuing with the hugely successful Databass parties in the late 90’s as well as helping to start the Sleaze electro nights in DC with DJ Simon. His new Friday night residency in VA called Tantric has successfully packed the house while maintaining a pure minimal techno aesthetic. Another weapon in Sinestro's arsenal has been his amazing skills as a producer and A&R man. With continued DIY passion, Sinestro released his first record on his Random Recordings label in '96, a release on Frankie Bones label “Hard to Swallow” and has continued to produce and perform new tracks to rave reviews. Finally, Sinestro put together what is regarded as Washington DC’s most legendary (and infamous) crew of DJ’s known as “The Syndicate”, which gave Buzzlife one of it’s most successful nights at Nation Nightclub and threw multiple underground parties in and around the Virginia/DC area that are still being talked about to this day.
Currently Sinestro has an EP coming out on Communique recordings along with another acid track that is being released on the same label. He is also working with JonnyC, DjJennR8, Curren and Bake to promote their new record label “Rehab Records” and their new night Tantric in Northern VA, along with producing new tracks with Dj Simon and others in the area. The idea of the night is to test out new tracks that they have produced on the unsuspecting crowd and try out new musical styles. The night has been a smashing success with a packed house and sweaty dancers every Friday getting down to the most cutting edge dance music out there. He is also looking to DJ out of town to promote himself and the record label, so if you are looking for new sounds, new ideas or just a damn good, sweaty, get the funk down kind of time, then Sinestro is your man.He is also looking to DJ out of town to promote himself and the record label, so if you are looking for new sounds, new ideas or just a damn good “get the funk down” kind of time, then Sinestro is your man.
